Residential Living

Lutheran Aged Care operates 3 Residential Aged Care Homes, which are described below. Living in a residential care home is not the same as living in your own home; nothing is. However, we at Lutheran Aged Care do understand the loss and grief associated with needing to move somewhere to enable you to maintain your health and well being. We have been helping folk with this challenge since 1960 in Albury, and if this is what you are contemplating or facing, or it is what someone you love is facing, we would be privileged to help you too.
Contrary to what the public might think, or the newspapers might say, there is an abundance of life being lived in comfort and with joy in residential aged care homes, and certainly in Lutheran Aged Care Homes. There are friends to make or friendships to renew, security in knowing that there is always someone to offer you assistance, Pastoral carers to ‘be’ with you if that is what you need at any time, celebrations and parties, ways to ‘keep up with what is happening in the world’, room for your family and visitors to meet with you in private, delicious food – that you don’t have to cook, but cooking you can do at times if you wish and help to visit the community and events that take your fancy ….and much more………….  Living in residential aged care is NOT what the newspapers write about!!!

Yallaroo    1 Stafford Road Albury

Newly Renovated and Decorated

  • Provides a high level of care to 60 residents and within that, delivers special needs care to 30 residents.
  • There are four ‘houses’ in Yallaroo;

Nahum and Manoah provide special needs care, and

Kiah and Kankama  provide general high care to frail aged residents.

  • All rooms have ensuite bathrooms and open out onto the garden and pathways.
  • There is perimeter security, protecting the safety of residents who may have difficulties in way finding and/or wandering and the facility is surrounded with well maintained beautiful gardens.
  • Yallaroo is a lively environment, with many lifestyle programs, special events and celebrations throughout the year that residents can choose from, to attend.
  • The focus of the special needs units is on person centred care, with the goal being to understand each person’s particular history and cultural references, from which a plan of care, flexible in nature, can be implemented.
  • Families are encouraged to be involved in planning their ‘resident’s’ care and support plan, vital as they are to us ‘knowing’ their relative.
  • A Pastoral Care program operates throughout all of Lutheran Aged Care facilities and villages, endeavouring to ensure that all residents are able to access spiritual support, appropriate comfort in difficult times and practice of their chosen religious worship. Families are also supported by the Pastor and the Pastoral Care Team when this is required. Chapel and quiet spaces are provided in all facilities.
